I am happy to convey to you warmest greetings of solidarity and to join you in the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the formal establishment of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) through the adoption of the 10-Pt Guidelines on April 24, 1973.

The NDFP has served the Filipino people excellently as the most consolidated underground united front organization of the basic revolutionary forces (working class, peasantry and urban petty bourgeoisie) in the revolutionary struggle for national liberation and democracy against US imperialism and the local exploiting classes.

On the 32nd anniversary of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), I wish to convey my heartfelt congratulations to all the seventeen revolutionary organizations allied within the NDFP for thirty two years of revolutionary struggle.

I join you on this auspicious occasion in honoring our numerous martyrs and heroes who dedicated their lives in the service of the people. I wish to especially mention Comrade Antonio Zumel, the first chairperson of the NDFP. When he died on August 13, 2001, he was the honorary NDFP chairperson and senior adviser of the NDFP Negotiating Panel. He and all our other martyrs and heroes continue to inspire us in carrying out our revolutionary tasks.

Thank you very much for your high sense of solidarity and serious concern in coming to this forum. I wish that I were in person here with you. But let me be with you in spirit and express my most heartfelt gratitude.

I am deeply pleased that this forum takes up the defense of my democratic rights against their violation by the European Council, which has criminalized me as a "terrorist" without any kind of due process and is subjecting me to punitive measures.
