Observation on Duterte's 3-month review of process and agreements in GRP-NDFP negotiations

On the basis of the unrevoked Proclamation Nos. 360 and 374 as well as recent announcements and indications being made by Duterte himself and other GRP officials, many people expect that Duterte will make from his ¨review¨ certain conclusions and demands that he will try to impose on the NDFP and that NDFP will certainly refuse, thus rendering impossible peace negotiations between GRP and NDFP, at least for as long as Duterte is in power.

The NDFP-Mindanao rejects the latest attempt of the the US-Duterte regime to once again sabotage and derail the peace process by arbitrarily cancelling the resumption of the 5th round of the NDFP-GRP formal peace negotiations, which is set to commence on June 28 as agreed upon by both parties after a series backchannel talks.

The CPP strongly condemns the Duterte regime and the AFP all-out war which targets the Moro civilian population living in areas surrounding the 220,000-hectare Liguasan Marsh, in a brazen attempt to force the hand of the Moro people to accept the ignominies of Duterte’s Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), cripple the Moro people’s resistance, and at same time occupy and control the area’s vast natural resources.

NDFP opposes Duterte scheme to hostage its negotiators while the AFP launches brutal military offensives

By dictating the venue of the peace negotiations, in violation of the standing agrement on a neutral foreign venue, Duterte is killing the peace negotiations. He knows very well that the NDFP will never submit itself to negotiating in a venue under his control and manipulation

The US-Duterte regime prefers widespread militarization of the countryside instead of seriously carrying out the agreed peace talks

The US-Duterte regime is showing its disinterest and insincerity to the prescribed peace talks between the GRP and NDFP by unilaterally cancelling the scheduled resumption of the formal negotiations this June 28, 2018 in Norway, despite the fact that it has been signed by both panels.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s cancellation of the formal peace negotiations between the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Philippine government (GPH) shows that his interests lie not on achieving a just and lasting peace. Duterte's cancellation of stand down and formal peace talks is unacceptable

Duterte is making himself look foolish and whimsical by claiming "I am not ready" to justify his cancellation of the scheduled talks. In fact, Duterte is merely concealing his disinterest in implementing the stand-down agreement and seriously pursuing formal peace negotiations.

GRP cancellation of stand down ceasefire starting on June 21 and resumption of formal talks in Oslo on June 28 is frustrating

GRP-NDFP Negotations on CASER Is Key to Resolving Armed Conflict

Resolutely fight the brutal and rotten fascist puppet US-Duterte regime! Resolutely intensify the revolutionary armed struggle!

The past year witnessed unrestrained terrorist state violence in the US-Duterte regime’s three wars. The brutal all-out-war of suppression focused against the people and the revolutionary movement. The "anti-drug war" summarily killed around 13,000 ordinary people. And the US-instigated anti-Bangsamoro "war on terror" inflicted total destruction on Marawi City and dislocation of close to half a million people and was used to justify martial law in the whole of Mindanao. The people are rising in anger against these brutalities and their worsening economic hardship due to neoliberal policies and increased taxes for government military spending.

Intensify the people's war against the tyranny and terrorism of the US-Duterte fascist regime

The New People's Army continues to grow steadily as it approaches its 50th founding anniversary. Young Red fighters and commanders from among the peasants, workers and urban intelligentsia make up most of its ranks and infuse it with revolutionary vigor, optimism and courage.

On Lorenzana "massive surrender" claims

Lorenzana insists there are now 4,356 "NPA surrenderees". If the "trend of massive surrenders," as claimed by him, continues, there will be close to 10,000 "NPA surrenderees" by mid-year.  So "Congratulations!" are in order for Lorenzana and Duterte, because by June, they would have defeated the NPA at least two times over (based on the AFP's estimate of 3,700 members of the NPA at the start of 2018).

Duterte misrepresents NDFP position in peace negotiations with GRP

GRP President Duterte is misrepresenting the position of the NDFP in peace negotiations by claiming that the NDFP merely wants to impose a coalition government on the GRP, with powers divided between the GRP and NDFP, thus fragmenting the national sovereignty.

End the hoax of Duterte’s “NPA surrender” shows

If we are to believe claims made by officials of the AFP at the end of 2017 that the NPA is down to 3,700 members, then by simple subtraction, one can conclude that the AFP under Duterte has already accomplished what all previous regimes have failed to do: defeat the NPA.

NDFP Renders Highest Honors to Comrade Alfredo “Ka Bendoy” Merilos
